关于 Álvaro Puig

Álvaro Puig is a Senior Associate in our Antitrust, Competition and Trade practice.

Álvaro’s practice encompasses all aspects of competition law, including merger control, behavioural matters, antitrust compliance, as well as foreign direct investment (FDI) matters.

He has extensive experience in advising global corporate clients, private equity firms and sovereign wealth funds on complex cross-border mandates across a wide variety of sectors. He has particular experience in multi-jurisdictional merger control proceedings before EU and other global regulators, and multi-jurisdictional FDI proceedings.

Álvaro also worked in the Brussels ACT practice and has been seconded to the Paris office. Prior to private practice, Álvaro completed a traineeship at the merger case support and policy unit of the Directorate General for Competition (DG COMP) of the European Commission, as well as the legal service of the former Spanish Competition Authority (CNC).

  • Boehringer Ingelheim (BI) on the multijurisdictional merger control aspects of the business swap with Sanofi, with BI acquiring Sanofi's global animal health business (Merial) in exchange for the sale of its global consumer healthcare business (excluding China).   
  • Fresenius and its subsidiary Helios Kliniken, on its acquisition of Quirónsalud, Spain’s largest private hospital network.
  • Amadeus IT Group on its acquisition of US airline IT company Navitaire.
