Freshfields strengthens its Madrid international arbitration practice
Global law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (‘Freshfields’) has announced the relocation of four Freshfields international arbitration specialists from its US practice to Madrid, strengthening the firm’s international arbitration capabilities in Spain.
New Madrid team members will build out the successful practice that has been developed by Rafael Murillo (head of the litigation and arbitration practice group in Spain), Natalia Gomez (litigation partner) and ranked arbitration specialist Lluis Paradell (based in Madrid and Rome), assisted by Jose Luis Prieto, senior associate Katherine del Mar– barrister (England & Wales) – and associates Laura Lozano and Patricia Beltrán. New team members include senior associates Madeline Snider (previously based in New York) and Marta García Bel (previously based in New York and currently in Milan and Madrid), and associates Alexandre Alonso and Julián Rotenberg, previously based in New York and Washington, D.C., respectively. Top international arbitration practitioner Noiana Marigo (partner and Head of International Arbitration for the Americas and Co-Head of Latin America Practice), based in New York, will also be spending part of her time in Madrid.
This will bring the Madrid arbitration team to 12 lawyers.
Noiana Marigo stated: “Our international arbitration team possesses a depth of experience working within the context of the legal and political systems of Latin America, the US and other parts of the world that is unrivalled by that of any other law firm. We are delighted that we will now bring all our expertise to Spain”.
Rafael Murillo added: “We are very pleased to welcome a team of such talented lawyers to Madrid. The increasing demand from our clients with interests in Latin America and elsewhere in the world continues to present fantastic opportunities for us and we have developed a strong footprint to meet their demands. Our Madrid litigation and arbitration practices are growing year-on-year, and we plan to continue this trajectory, in line with client demand, to ensure we maintain our market-leading position globally in what we do best”.
