Freshfields continues strategic growth with dispute resolution partner appointment
Global law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (‘Freshfields’) today announced that Ludovic Malgrain, a leading litigation practitioner specialising in white-collar crime, has joined the firm’s dispute resolution practice as a partner in Paris.
Malgrain joins from Malgrain Avocats, a Paris boutique dedicated to white-collar crime, following ten years as partner at White & Case, where he most recently led its white-collar crime and regulatory practice in the French capital.
He is regularly ranked as a leading criminal defence lawyer in France and brings more than 20 years’ litigation experience. He has represented high-profile French and international clients, including corporate entities and individuals, from the industrial, oil and gas, banking, and technology sectors.
Freshfields Paris Head of Litigation Stéphane Bénouville, said: “With the Paris market expanding and the demand for sophisticated litigation growing across sectors, Ludovic’s reputation in the French criminal defence and compliance areas will be a valued addition to our white-collar litigation team. He brings complementary expertise in corporate litigation to our global partnership and will strengthen our profile in that area. I look forward to working with Ludovic in the years ahead.”
Freshfields Head of Global Dispute Resolution Sarah Parkes said: “Ludovic is a welcome addition to our white-collar criminal practice in Paris and our broader global disputes team. We both share the belief that major white-collar crime clients will be handled increasingly by international law firms who can genuinely offer a coordinated approach across various jurisdictions. Ludovic’s hiring demonstrates our ambition to continue to expand our coverage across markets and sectors, building great teams to deliver for our clients in Europe and around the world.”
Freshfields’ litigation practice in France currently advises international clients across complex commercial and civil disputes on a wide range of issues. They also represent large financial and corporate institutions in high profile white-collar and corporate litigation and regulatory cases, as in the context of regulatory investigations and enforcement proceedings.
Malgrain joins an expanding global dispute resolution practice, with the recent hire of Gayle Klein to the firm’s partnership in New York
