Freshfields advises ING as Arranger and ING, Credit Agricole and Santander as Joint Lead Managers on ING’s first green securitisation funding transaction
Global law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (‘Freshfields’) advised ING as Arranger and ING, Credit Agricole and Santander as Joint Lead Managers on ING Bank N.V.’s innovative Green Lion 2023-1 (€850 million) Dutch mortgage securitisation funding transaction.
Green Lion is a Dutch residential mortgage-backed securitisation (RMBS) backed by owner-occupied mortgages for energy-efficient homes in the Netherlands that carry a minimum ‘A’ rating for energy efficiency if constructed before 2022 or comply with Primary Energy Demand thresholds if constructed after 2022. The transaction, which has a triple-A rated Class A tranche combined with retained Class B and C tranches, marks ING's first step into the green securitisation market and offers sustainable investment opportunities to investors.
The Freshfields team was led by Amsterdam-based finance partner Mandeep Lotay and supported by associates Dámaris Engelschman and Annemarie van der Does Vos.
